Remote Repair Utility

A successful Deployment needs access to the following resources on the target computer:

ADMIN$ share - This is a shared folder that exists by default on all Windows computers which points to the Windows directory (%windir% which is usually C:\Windows). It is needed to copy the package files to the target computer.

Service Control Manager - This is used to execute the package.

There are many things which can prevent access to these resources over the network such as firewall rules and security settings. If you run into a situation with a failed installation you may want to run Remote Repair Utility which is included with PDQ Deploy. It's a small utility that you can use to detect problems remotely connecting to target computers. It can also be executed on target computers where it can attempt to fix any problems it finds. It won't fix every problem, but it will get the most common.

You can find the executable in the PDQ Deploy program files folder.

Note The utility requires that the target computer have Microsoft .NET 4 or later installed.
