Add Computers Window |

This window is used to add Computers to the PDQ Inventory database. As soon as computers are added they will be Scanned for their inventory information. Name Resolution As computers are added to the list their names will be resolved using the current Windows network configuration (DNS, WINS, NetBIOS, etc.) A computer must be properly resolved before it can be added. Next to each computer name will be the name of the computer as resolved or an error message if the name of the computer cannot be found. If a computer isn't properly resolved you can fix the problem and then add it again. Computers that already exist in the database will not be imported again (they will be skipped when you click OK.) There are a number of ways computers can be added. Individually by Name Type the name of the computer in the box and press Add. The name will be added to the list. Copy/Paste Copy a list of computer names (from a text file or spreadsheet, for example) and paste it onto the list. The names will be added to the list and resolved. Import from a File Import computer names from a text file. If the file is a CSV (comma separated values) file then only the first column will be imported as the computer names. Active Directory Browse your Active Directory domains to find computers to add using the Active Directory button.
