Upgrading from AA Console

PDQ Inventory can upgrade from AA Console if it is installed. This upgrade will import all of the collections and and computer inventory from the AA Console database.

Due to differences in the software not all information can be imported as-is. The following is a list of what will be skipped or changed on import.

Item

Description

SQL Filters in Collections

PDQ Inventory doesn't support custom SQL filters for collections. Collections with SQL filters will be imported but any SQL filter fields will be skipped.

Collection Folders

PDQ Inventory doesn't have collection folders, any collection can be a child of any other. AA Console used collection folders to "roll up" computers from child collections while PDQ Inventory "drills down" from parent to child. Collection folders are imported as normal dynamic collections and if they were set to "roll up" from their children they will have appropriate filters in place to duplicate the functionality.

Initial Collections

If any of the initial default collections have been changed they will not be imported over their default counterparts in PDQ Inventory.

Software Name & Version and Environment Full Name

These two filters exist as a way to get around problems with the way that AA Console performs collection filters on environment variables and software.  This problem doesn't exist in PDQ Inventory and collections with either of these filter fields will be converted to Program Name and Environment Variable Name, respectively.
