Computer Window

The Computer window provides access to all the inventory data for a single computer gathered from scanners. Scanners are small programs that PDQ Inventory runs on target computers during a scan. Scanners read the information they are designed to capture and PDQ Inventory records their output in the inventory database.

In addition to viewing in the Computer window, the information gathered by scanners (hardware, software, Windows configuration data, files, user and group information, and certain Active Directory data) can be viewed in reports. PDQ Inventory also uses this data to create collections that you can use to easily find computers with particular attributes.

A scan profile consists of one or more scanners. Scan profiles are used by PDQ Inventory to scan and collect data from your network. You can use and edit prebuilt profiles or create your own. For details, see Prebuilt Scan Profiles and Creating Scan Profiles. (Pro or Enterprise mode required to edit and create scan profiles.)

From the Computer window you can start a scan, launch PDQ Deploy and other admin tools, and preview and print page details. For additional details about the Computer window, see Computer Window Menu and Toolbar and Computer Window List and Page.
