The Credentials page allows you to manage the administrator Scan User credentials used for scanning and managing your computers. PDQ Inventory can store multiple sets of credentials that can be used for different scans.
NOTE: PDQ encrypts all sensitive information (passwords) when they are stored in the PDQ Inventory database. We use industry standard AES encryption with three separate keys to keep your data safe. One key is built into the application, one key is stored in the database, and the third is stored in the registry. These last two keys are generated when the application is installed and are unique to your system.

To access the Credentials settings, click Options > Credentials.

Edit Credentials |
Click Edit Credentials to edit an existing credential. |

Add Credentials |
Click Add Credentials to add a new set of administrator credentials that PDQ Inventory may use for scans and managing computers. |

Domain |
The Active Directory domain for the User Name. Note: PDQ Inventory can use both local and domain administrator accounts. Credentials are considered to be local if they have no domain or if they have a domain that starts with a period (.). When local administrator credentials are used, the target computer name is added to the user name. |
User Name |
The user name for the specified domain. |

Password |
The password for the user name. |

(Optional) A description to help you identify the credentials. |

Click Test Credentials to validate the current user name and password. If the user name and password belong to a local account, PDQ Inventory asks you to provide a computer name on which to test the credentials. If the account is in the same domain as the currently logged on user or it is in a domain to which the currently logged on user has administrative rights, PDQ Inventory validates the user name and password in Active Directory. If the account is in a domain that isn’t accessible from the computer where PDQ Inventory is running or if the credentials belong to a local administrator account on another computer, you are prompted for the name of the computer to use to verify the user name and password. IMPORTANT: The Test Credentials option tests only the user name and password. It does not verify if the user account has administrator privileges. |

Click Add LAPS to add the Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) as a new set of administrator credentials that PDQ Inventory may use for scans and managing computers. For more information about LAPS, click here. |

LAPS User |
The user designated in your LAPS configuration. |
Domain |
The domain that corresponds to the LAPS account as specified in Active Directory. NOTE: This is required for LAPS. |

User Name |
The user name for the above specified domain. NOTE: This is required for LAPS. |

Password |
The password for the above user name. NOTE: This is required for LAPS. |

Description |
(Optional) A description to help you identify the credentials. |

Test Credentials |
Click Test Credentials to validate both the LAPS user and the current user name and password in Active Directory. PDQ Inventory also independently validates the user name and password in Active Directory. If the account is in a domain that isn’t accessible from the computer where PDQ Inventory is running, you are prompted for the name of the computer to use to verify the user name and password. |

Set Default |
Designates the selected account as the default set of Scan User credentials. The default credentials are used for scans when no other credentials are specified. |

Click Remove Credentials to remove the selected user name from the PDQ Inventory Credentials list. NOTE: The default credentials cannot be removed. You must first designate another set of Scan User credentials as the default. If there is only one credentials set to default, it cannot be deleted. |
