In order to allow a service to be started remotely it may be necessary to grant the "Logon as a Service" privilege to a user account. This must be done by connecting to the security subsystem remotely. This test ensures that the security subsystem can be accessed and privileges read. It doesn't change any existing privileges. Common ProblemsThe most common problems is a firewall blocking access to the IPC$ share. Other, less common problems, are the Server service not running or file sharing disabled. |
