Target Service

Used to configure the settings of the Target Service used to perform deployments on target computers.

Note: Pro Mode is required to change this setting.

Directory

The directory where the deployment will be staged and executed. This directory must be on a share that is accessible to the deployment credentials. The default directory is:

ADMIN$\AdminArsenal

The actual directory used for the deployments will be a child of this directory, such as:

ADMIN$\AdminArsenal\PDQDeployRunner\1\

The number at the end will vary depending on factors such as other deployments running concurrently. Some anti-virus software allows excluding this directory from scanning which can help with performance and file sharing issues which can crop up.

Note: The share name must already exist on the target computer. For example, the default directory requires that \\[target computer name]\ADMIN$ exists. PDQ Deploy will create sub directories as needed.

The directory can be changed to any public share, though the most common are ADMIN$ and C$ which will be enabled by default on most computers.

Share Path

If the Directory value does not begin with a standard Windows share such as ADMIN$ or C$ then a physical path to the shared directory must be entered.

We recommend using the default setting.

Upgrading

Note: If upgrading from version 2.2 and earlier of PDQ Deploy the directory will be ADMIN$ in order to maintain compatibility with existing anti-virus scanning configurations. It can be changed back to the default if desired.
