The main PDQ Inventory window provides access to all of the Computers and Collections in the database. Collection Page When a collection is selected in the list on the left its Collection Page is shown on the right with the computers that are members of that collection. Double-clicking on the name of a collection will open its Collection Window where the collection can be edited. Collection Operations Creating Collections Collections can created new (using the New Collection menu) or duplicated from an existing one (using the Duplicate menu). Moving Collections Collections can be moved from one parent to another by dragging them within the list and dropping them on the new parent. Import/Export of Collections Individual collections can be exported to an XML file and then imported into another copy of PDQ Inventory. Computer Operations Adding Computers to the Database Using the Add Computers menu (or button) computers can be added to the database through the Add Computers Window. Scan Computers Computers can have their inventory Scanned by using the Start Scan menu (or button). The scan will start immediately and the icon for the computer will change in the computer list to indicate that it is being updated. Adding Computers to a Static Collection Computers can be dragged from a collection page and dropped on the name of a static collection in the list. The computers will not be moved from the original collection but added to the new collection in addition. Other Operations Change Credentials Using the Credentials menu the user account used to scan computers can be changed. Preferences Preferences for the application can be accessed with the Preferences menu.
