PDQ Inventory requires Microsoft .NET Framework on all of the computers that will be scanned (version 3.5 service pack 1). If a computer doesn't have .NET Framework then a scan will not be able to be performed.

.NET 4 is required on the computer where PDQ Inventory is installed. A future version will move to .NET 4 for all computers.

Note: .NET 4 does not include .NET 3.5 so target computers with .NET 4 will still need to have 3.5 SP 1 installed in order to be scanned.

Auto Installation

PDQ Inventory can automatically install .NET Framework on target computers before a scan, if needed. In order to perform this installation the installer file must first be downloaded to the computer where PDQ Inventory is running. This can be handled using the .NET Installation Preferences.

The installation may require a reboot, however PDQ Inventory will not automatically perform a reboot if one is required. This reboot is not often required unless the computer has version 3.5 and only needs service pack 1.

Manual Installation

.NET 3.5 SP 1 can be installed on a computer that needs it by selecting the "Install .NET and Scan" menu item under the Computers menu (this requires that the installer be identified in the .NET Installation Preferences).
